God is in heaven and we are on earth , how do you think the view is from way up there ? .

From up there we are all materially tiny !! , just by looking you can hardly tell if someone owns a jeep or not or owns several houses or not , has money in his account and all other things that humans tend to be drawn to .

No matter how much material things you have , you must not get carried away , because from way up there it dosent matter one bit .

God's Jugdgement is fair and simple , he mets out deserving judgement regardless of social standing , professional and financial status .

Let him that thinks he stand take heed lest he fall . (1Corinthians 10:12)

The bible also says the feet of the wicked shall slide in due time . (Deuteronomy 32:35 )

GOD'S LIFE ACADEMY

There are two kinds of enrollment into Gods Academy . One is the regular while the other is fast track .

Students of the regular life academy are thought lessons of life in a more structured manner governed by a timetable . Students who have regular enrollment are usually identified by regular prayer time , regular bible study time and regular worship periods.

Another good thing about students with regualr enrollement is that they pay less fees for lessons learned.

In contrast , students in fast track institution usually have no time to pray , study the word , worship etc , members of this class tends to pay more for lessons learned. The lessons are also harder than the students of regular enrollment.

THE CIRCLE OF FOCUS FORMULA

The circle of focus is a formula i created to keep me focused in life , the precision of the circle can increase or decrease with time . Precision is measured by the amount of points in that circle , so the more points you have the more precise the circle is and vice versa.

The way it works is simple , i currently have four things or points that make up the circle
1) God , 2) Family , 3) Career 4) a couple of friends

The more time i spend within this circle the more focused i am , so the amount of time i spend within the circle serves as my yardstick for focus .

Outside this circle are all kinds of distractions that we face in the world today , so the more time i spend outside the circle the more distracted i become .

Because focus is very key in life and because i believe so much in formulas :) , this formula was created to help me maintain focus in life , this formula can be freely applied or you can devise a formula that works for you .

It is high time we set our faces like flints

Isaiah 50:7 , For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

TEST BEFORE TESTIMONY

I feel led to tell everyone today that God is about to turn every sorrow we may be going through to testimonies , pain to gain , beauty for ashes , gladness for morning , peace for despair(Isa 61:3) as long as we look to him alone as the source of our strength.

Like David said in Psalm 121:1 , i will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help . If we completely and truly look unto God there is no way that we can simultaneously look to man for help as well , God hates double standards , thats why he said we cant serve God and mammon. It is either him or no deal .

When you look to God , he can make the forces of nature men and women inclusive to be positioned to meet your need . Most breakthroughs i have encountered in life have not come by believing in any man for anything because i have realized man frailty and weakness and i have recognized superior strength of the only wise God.

My prayer today is that God uses this month as transit into greater opportunities and blessings for us all . Amen

RIGHT PLACE , RIGHT TIME WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE

Psalm 37:23 - the steps of the righteous man are ordered by God.

If we want to be where God wants us to be as Christians , we must learn to allow God order our steps . God has been teaching me this lesson over the past few years and i feel it is necessary to share this secrets with you.

We can walk by hard-work , run by principles but we can only soar and fly by direction from the almighty.

Every thing i have done on my own leading has always led to failure but anything i do that is approved by God always ends up well.

In Ecclesiastes 9:11 , God revealed to me the importance of being at the right place at the right time .

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

It is very important that we understand this mystery so that we position ourselves for the great things that God has set in store for us this year , because God said we should remember not the former things , neither should we consider the things of old , because he will do a new thing.

In today's world , excellence is no longer a function of skill alone but it is also a function of being at the right place at the right time (time and chance factor) .

One may look at that scripture and say that it contradicts principles like hard-work , determination , perseverance etc , honestly this was my first reaction as well , but what this scripture is saying is apart from skill , understanding and pace that you have , you also need Gods divine positioning to be at the right place and right time .

Mant CEOs , top business executives and other top individuals understand this principle and they are thriving in it , many of the aforementioned people are not better then you in terms of skill and wit , but they have been divinely positioned .

Prayer : Oh God , help me to be at the right place at the right time and meeting the right people . (Pray this with so much passion )

TRIALS BEFORE TRIUMPH

Text : Genesis 37,39-40

Life is full of challenges and trials , you cant run away from it even if you decide to live as an island or a even of you are a saint , challenges will surely come , people will gang up against you .

Whether you like it or not people will always want to bring you down whether you are the number one saint in the world , so it is high time that we understood this and prepare effectively for battle.

Taking the story of Joseph for example , he was always ganged up against because he had a glorious destiny ahead of him .

His brothers sold him into slavery at a very young age , this was the beginning of the trials and betrayals that will eventually lead to him taking his throne as a king.

In potiphars house he was wrongfully accused of rape , and was sent to prison for three years .

He was betrayed by the butler in the prison and the story goes on and on.

He was later released from prison and assumed his role as second in command after potiphar.

No matter what has been said about you wrongly , God will eventually use your life for his glory and to the shame of the devil if you continue to trust in him.

There are two approaches to handle this kind of situation:
1) Pray for you enemies , show love to them .
2) Pray the prayer of David in Psalm 109

You use option 2 when your enemies have refused to repent . Take time to read Psalm 109.

I came across this message and i thought i share it everyone , from this message being a prophet is not as as rosy at it seems these days , its almost like we have no prophets !

The prophet in his day is fully accepted of God and totally rejected by men.

Years back, Dr. Gregory Mantle was right when he said, “No man can be fully accepted until he is totally rejected.” The prophet of the Lord is aware of both these experiences. They are his “brand name.”

The group, challenged by the prophet because they are smug and comfortably insulated from a perishing world in their warm but untested theology, is not likely to vote him “Man of the year” when he refers to them as habituates of the synagogue of Satan!

The prophet comes to set up that which is upset. His work is to call into line those who are out of line! He is unpopular because he opposes the popular in morality and spirituality. In a day of faceless politicians and voiceless preachers, there is not a more urgent national need than that we cry to God for a prophet! The function of the prophet, as Austin-Sparks once said, “has almost always been that of recovery.”

The prophet is God’s detective seeking for a lost treasure. The degree of his effectiveness is determined by his measure of unpopularity. Compromise is not known to him.
He has no price tags.
He is totally “otherworldly.”
He is unquestionably controversial and unpardonably hostile.
He marches to another drummer!
He breathes the rarefied air of inspiration.
He is a “seer” who comes to lead the blind.
He lives in the heights of God and comes into the valley with a “thus saith
the Lord.”
He shares some of the foreknowledge of God and so is aware of
impending judgment.
He lives in “splendid isolation.”
He is forthright and outright, but he claims no birthright.
His message is “repent, be reconciled to God or else…!”
His prophecies are parried.
His truth brings torment, but his voice is never void.
He is the villain of today and the hero of tomorrow.
He is excommunicated while alive and exalted when dead!
He is dishonored with epithets when breathing and honored with
epitaphs when dead.
He is a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, but few “make the grade” in his class.
He is friendless while living and famous when dead.
He is against the establishment in ministry; then he is established as a saint
by posterity.
He eats daily the bread of affliction while he ministers, but he feeds the Bread of
Life to those who listen.
He walks before men for days but has walked before God for years.
He is a scourge to the nation before he is scourged by the nation.
He announces, pronounces, and denounces!
He has a heart like a volcano and his words are as fire.
He talks to men about God.
He carries the lamp of truth amongst heretics while he is lampooned by men.
He faces God before he faces men, but he is self-effacing.
He hides with God in the secret place, but he has nothing to hide in
the marketplace.
He is naturally sensitive but supernaturally spiritual.
He has passion, purpose and pugnacity.
He is ordained of God but disdained by men.

Our national need at this hour is not that the dollar recover its strength, or that we save face over the Watergate affair, or that we find the answer to the ecology problem. We need a God-sent prophet!

I am bombarded with talk or letters about the coming shortages in our national life: bread, fuel, energy. I read between the lines from people not practiced in scaring folk. They feel that the “seven years of plenty” are over for us. The “seven years of famine” are ahead. But the greatest famine of all in this nation at this given moment is a FAMINE OF THE HEARING OF THE WORDS OF GOD (Amos 8:11).

Millions have been spent on evangelism in the last twenty-five years. Hundreds of gospel messages streak through the air over the nation every day. Crusades have been held; healing meetings have made a vital contribution. “Come-outers” have “come out” and settled, too, without a nation-shaking revival. Organizers we have. Skilled preachers abound. Multi-million dollar Christian organizations straddle the nation. BUT where, oh where, is the prophet? Where are the incandescent men fresh from the holy place? Where is the Moses to plead in fasting before the holiness of the Lord for our moldy morality, our political perfidy, and sour and sick spirituality?

GOD’S MEN ARE IN HIDING UNTIL THE DAY OF THEIR SHOWING FORTH. They will come. The prophet is violated during his ministry, but he is vindicated by history.

There is a terrible vacuum in evangelical Christianity today. The missing person in our ranks is the prophet. The man with a terrible earnestness. The man totally otherworldly. The man rejected by other men, even other good men, because they consider him too austere, too severely committed, too negative and unsociable.

Let him be as plain as John the Baptist.
Let him for a season be a voice crying in the wilderness of modern theology and
stagnant “churchianity.”
Let him be as selfless as Paul the apostle.
Let him, too, say and live, “This ONE thing I do.”
Let him reject ecclesiastical favors.
Let him be self-abasing, nonself-seeking, nonself-projecting, nonself- righteous,
nonself-glorying, nonself-promoting.
Let him say nothing that will draw men to himself but only that which will move
men to God.
Let him come daily from the throne room of a holy God, the place where he has
received the order of the day.
Let him, under God, unstop the ears of the millions who are deaf through the
clatter of shekels milked from this hour of material mesmerism.
Let him cry with a voice this century has not heard because he has seen a vision
no man in this century has seen. God send us this Moses to lead us from the
wilderness of crass materialism, where the rattlesnakes of lust bite us and where
enlightened men, totally blind spiritually, lead us to an ever-nearing Armageddon.

God have mercy! Send us PROPHETS!

PLACE PRAYER AND FASTING IN FAITH DEVELOPMENT

Faith is not an emotional state of mind but a spiritual state of mind . Faith has nothing to do with how loud you shout amen in the church or how you whisper amen .

Faith is spiritually quantified , there are different levels of faith and today i will be discussing briefly the mustard seed kind of faith .

When many read about the mustard seed kind of faith in Mathew 17:20 , they fail to move onto or ignore verse 21 , where the place of fasting and prayer is mentioned . Imagine what a mustard seed faith is able to do (cast out evil spirits , read from verse verse 14 - 21) how much more a trailer load of mustard seeds.

My message today is simple , whatever thing that appears to be a mountain for us in this new year should be approached with prayer and fasting which will in turn develop our faith and ultimately produce the needed results.

Lets us trust God and stop living without faith , my God is mighty to save !

WORDS VS ACTION

Welcome to this new year , we must know that millions of people did not see this new year but we did not because we are better or more spiritual , but rather we are in this new year because God has given us another chance to put all the mistakes of 2010 right and to fulfill that unique purpose to which he has called us.

For me , this new year is going to be one of demonstration of the word of God , not merely carrying around the tag of a christian without the necessary actions to go with it .

My mentor used to say "that you cant say Christ is all you want until he is all you have . "

Many of the things of 2010 will have to go , we must completely stand for him in everything we do , others must see Christ in us this year .

Prayer: May God give us the grace to make our thoughts , words and actions Christlike in this new year , amen .

WHOLE HEARTED SERVICE

are we serving God partially or fully ?
are we have one leg in and one leg out ?
do we profess Christ and do not possess him ?
do we please men over God?

Colosians 3:22 - Servants obey in all things your masters according to the flesh , not with eye service as menpleasers but in singleness of heart fearing God.

The above verse encourages us to serve God WHOLEHEARTEDLY ,the question is are we serving him in that light?

These are indictments to everyone including the writer , God is demanding whole hearted service to him ,that's why he said we should trust in him with all our hearts ( proverbs 3:5,6)

As we start in this new month let us desire to serve him with all our heart and i am sure he will give us the needed grace . Amen

IS IT WHAT WE DO ?

As Christians it is not a function of what we do , rather it is a more a function of what God is willing to bless.

God blessed Davids stones to defeat Goliath, God chose David over his brothers even though he wasn't the most qualified in the eyes of men , Jesus dined with Zacchaeus even though he was a tax collector.

Lets stop looking at what our accomplishments is or isn't , because from the examples above , it dosent matter one bit to God especially when he wants to lift you up .

If you applied for a job and you feel you cant get that job because you lack some of the qualifications i am here to encourage you today , God is not a respecter of persons because he can choose you for that role just as he did Zacchaeus and David.

GOD OF ALL FLESH

He is the God of all flesh is there anything to hard for him to do , lets hold on to this word this week and watch God work wonders in our lives.

Jeremiah 32:27 ,
Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

This is a rhetorical question , of course i know that nothing could possibly be too hard for him , now what about you?

What this scripture implies is that GOD is capable of using anybody regardless of race , religion , color to bless you , now isn't that a great revelation .

May God grant us understanding in Jesus name, Amen!

LESSONS FROM PSALM 119

Personally this is one of the most extensive and loaded chapter that i have ever read,in every verse there is a clear message to the reader.

Every verse tells us what we stand to benefit by holding on and reading the word of God.

I am going to be highlighting but a few of the many truths in this chapter.

To the sinning youth- vs 9 , How can a young man cleanse his ways? by taking heed to the word of God.

To all professing Christians- vs 19 ,36, 37 . We are strangers on earth , we are not to be caught up and overwhelmed by lives transient dream and covetous behaviors.

Someone once asked , what is the difference between the Christians of old and now he also asked why is is that they wrought more miracles and led more men to Christ , the answer is simple , Those men lived in eternity and were heaven focused but today's Christians live in time and are more worried about creature comforts than the precepts of God.

The law of God is able to make wise , see vs 97-99

Sometimes we need to be afflicted to learn Gods laws , see vs 71

Prayer : God give your people grace to read , understand and meditate on your word so that we will be able to say like David , oh how i love thy law.

Thank you lord for everything you have done for me , i know i dont deserve anymore than i get but lord i humbly ask that you lift me up today spiritually , materially so that i can be a blessing to the world around me.

This is a prayer i prayed today which i also encourage everyone to pray and expect a divine turnaround. It dosent matter how far you have strayed away , as long as you are ready to turn a new leaf , God is willing to reach out to you and make you stronger in him.

Let this verse of scripture encourage you today:

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he hath set the world upon them.

ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PAST

The title for todays devotion is taken from CT Studd's poem which i will share below :

As i read through the poem it reinforced a question that i have not been able to get a convincing answer for "Why is that we professing Christians vigorously pursue things that have little or no eternal value ? " There is nothing wrong in trying to get a better job , better salary or any other thing , what we should be more concerned about is the motive , why do we want a better job , is it because we want to paint town red and oppress people or make people know that we have arrived OR because we want to touch lives positively with our elevated position.

Someone even added a nice part to the poem , "Only one life twill soon be past , only whats done for God will last and when i am dying how glad i will be if the lamp of my life has been burned out for thee "

Ill leave us with this verse and it is my earnest prayer that God enables us to do what the verse advises :

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal.

(2 Cornthians 4:18)

ABOUT CHRISTIAN DEVOTION

For christians devotion means dedicating ones time and life in its entirety to God.

The amount of time we dedicate to God varies from christian to christian, that is why spiritual authority and power also varies with Christians.

We must also understand that no christian is greater than his prayer or devotional life.

The message i bring today is simple and to the point , Let us begin to see devotion as spiritual body building , the more time and consistency we put in the greater the results.

WE NEED A REVELATION OF CHRIST

Prayer: God reveal yourself to us and in us Christians today.
A Christian is not known in words but rather in deeds. The bible even says that the kingdom of God is not in words ( 1 CORINTHIANS 4:20 )
Many Christians are falling away And turning to other religions today because they have not yet experienced Christ because it goes beyond says the sinners prayer after an alter call .
The prayer above is very important for this generation of Christians because the Christianity of today is losing substance, a wise man once said “the world is not waiting for a new definition of Christianity but rather a new demonstration of Christianity” . I strongly believe a time will come when Christians will get tired of hearing the same old shallow “gospel” that doesn’t do more than tickling our emotions for a few minutes or hours , may God give us understanding .
I think the new sinners prayer in churches today should be Oh God reveal yourself to me and in me.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS

The only way we can truly experience the continual presence of God in our lives is when we are truly desperate for him .

The blind man in Luke 18 from verse 31 was desperate to receive sight , he was received discouragement from people around him ( vs 39 ) but he still pressed on and continued to call on the name of God for deliverance .

I liken this blind man to many spiritually blind Christians in the world today going back and forth in their christian walk , not sure of which side to take between the world , devil and Christ as a result wonder in the darkness and wilderness of confusion , God has taught me that we must be desperate for a change in our christian life before we can receive his presence , it is easy to be desperate for food , a Job , money etc and in our desperation we put in the needed effort to realise this goals and we finally get it . Now just imagine we give the same effort to spiritual matters , oh Boy ! we shall be unstoppable , we shall have mastery over the devil and his vices , not to talk of the sweetness in walking with God , oh God please give us such desperation and hunger for you.

Prayer :
Oh God give me sight in my spiritual blindness .

RENEWING YOUR STRENGTH

Isa 40:31

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

The secret to a steady christian life lies in the above verse . What does it mean to wait on the lord ? take a moment and imagine yourself waiting for kick off of your favorite football team , in that case you are waiting on your team another example could be waiting for the end of month so that you can receive your salary , this waiting can be more intense especially when you are in dire need of money.

To wait on the lord is to fix gaze and earnestly expect to receive something from him and every other thing that comes your way is a distraction , liken waiting on the lord to the Gethsemane experience that Jesus had.

Personally , the way i wait on him for renewed strength is embarking on a fast coupled with prayer and praises . I use the word personally because another person might wait on him through intense meditation , prayers , praises and thanksgiving.
Regardless of how we do it , the essence is for renewed strength.

We must seek renewed strength when we are about to embark on a task that is obviously greater than us , it is only when we wait on the lord that we can fly , run and walk without being tired , depending on our strength alone will cause us to utterly fall(see vs 30).

May God give us the inner strength to wait on him in Jesus name.

SALVATION Pt 1

Jesus Christ dies to set us free. Therefore Jesus Christ is our salvation , he died to set us free.

"How can we escape if we neglect such a great salvation" . Hebrews 2:3

Jesus Christ has paid the price to set us free , therefore we are no longer to be held captive by anything that the world has to offer .

We are not to be consumed by the world , flesh and the devil any longer .

Let us always remember this " Jesus Christ bought us to set us free "

I must say all thanks be to God for using his man of God (Paris Reidhead) to reveal this to me.

BE FAITHFUL WITH THE LITTLE YOU HAVE- LUKE 16:10-12

It is very important that in all things we give God thanks , whether we are we want to be financially , spiritually or otherwise.

We must just learn to give him thanks for were we are and were he is taking us to.
The lesson from the above verses of scripture is as follows :
Praise God for what you have and do not be covetous or overly desirous of what another man possesses this is because you are unique and Gods plan for us is different from that of another.

It is only when God finds you faithful in the little he has committed you to that you will be entitled for something greater.

" Oh God position me in such a manner that I will be inline with your plan and purpose for my life . "

This is one prayer that I pray today expecting trusting God for the needed answers.
I am persuaded that as we begin to be more faithful in the things of this world that God has committed to us then only will he will entrust us with the true riches that are not of this world .

THE GREATEST TEXT EVER

The bible is the greatest text ever to appear on the face of the earth ,it is multifaceted , multidimensional and one that does not require a high IQ to understand , in fact one may have the highest IQ and still fail to understand what simple verse of scripture imply.

It takes the Holy spirit to understand the contents of the bible and it takes the grace of God to apply in our lives.

Before writing this message i was led to psalm 119 and i must say that i got lost because in each verse lied a sermon , i strongly felt that with the help of God i can write different messages on Psalm 119 for an entire year.

In my state of astonishment i could almost hear him say with a smile " Dont you know that this is the greatest book ever "

Holy Spirit give us grace today to discover the treasures that lie in your word .

WHOLLY DEPENDENT ON GOD

Very early in my life God used some situations to teach me to be solely dependent on him for everything in life ,he is the only one that gives without expecting anything in return and also without any hidden agenda or propaganda.

When God decides to bless you , there is nothing anyone can do about it . Whenever i need anything and i tend to fix my gaze on man as the source of my solution , God brings to my attention to these two verses below :
Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Hebrews 12:2

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I see man as a tap through which blessings of God flows , therefore our gaze must be on the source and not the tap.

I strongly believe Isaac must have learnt a big lesson in faith from his father when Abraham was to offer him as a sacrifice to God , Isaac kept asking Abraham for the sacrifice but Abraham kept saying God will provide and at the last minute God provided , people of God it dosent matter how long you have being waiting for that breakthrough , God will cause a dramatic turnaround for our favor if only we do not waiver in believing him.

So if a man is standing in the way of that promotion or Job or whatever that next level may be , i say today that God is able to remove and raise up another man to favor you IF ONLY YOU SOLELY DEPEND ON HIM .

A man of God once said "YOU CANNOT LOOK UP UNTO GOD AND MAN AT THE SAME TIME" , try it and let me know the outcome.

KNOWLEGE IS POWER

Knowledge is power, if dont think so go and ask the devil.

In Hosea 4:6 , God points out that his people are destroyed for lack of knowledge , this couldn't be any more true.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children

->I have the mind of Christ.
->I can do all things through Christ.
->I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
->The lord is my strength and my shield.
->Satan comes to kill , steal and destroy.
->God is our refuge and strength in time of trouble.
->We wrestle not against flesh and blood .

Promises and assurances like this abound in the word of God , if we dont know them how can we apply .

I want to let us know today that we can not continue to live in ignorance and allow ourselves to be molested by the devil .

It is not enough for us to know , we must apply , that's were we need the grace of God heavily , we must firstly search out the word of God and then seek the grace of God for application.

LESSONS FROM THE PRODIGAL SON (LUKE 15)

2) It doesn’t matter how far off you have gone in your walk with God , there is still room for repentance and a turning from all your evil ways . In verse 17 , the prodigal son came to his senses and he took a brave step to go back to his father and ask for forgiveness
3) God love is unconditional ,people of God you may have done some abominable things in the past but I have come to let you know that God still loves you , all you have to do like the prodigal son is confess your sins to him and he will receive you.
4) There is power in confessed sins.

LESSONS FROM THE WISE AND FOOLISH VIRGINS

->The wise virgins had a backup plan , in that they carried enough oil to last them till the master comes BUT the foolish virgins failed to plan. Hence failing to plan is indeed planning to fail.

->The wise virgins were taken by the bride groom for marriage while the foolish virgins scampered for oil , therefore as christians we MUST be sober and vigilant because we do not know when the master will return . Even when the foolish virgins were able to buy oil it was already too late because he had already shut the door hence there was no way for him to ascertain if they were among the invited virgins or not ( see vs 10-12 )

-> In conclusion we are admonished to live ready because the bible says that he shall come like a thief in the night.( I thess 5:2-4)

7 THINGS GOD HATES

Friends this is what God drew my heart to today , In Proverbs 6 we see seven things that God hates , let us identify if anyone is at work in our lives and turn away from it by the grace of God.

These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:

1) A proud look
2) Liers
3) Murderers
4) Heart that plans evil
5) Mischievous people
6) False witnesses
7) People that sows discord. (Worst of all in Gods Most hated List )

I am sure everyone knows what it means to hate something , you absolutely dont want to see that thing anywhere around you , that the same way God hates to have people with the above characteristics around him .

May God help us not to fall in the aforementioned categories , In Jesus name. Amen

REPROBATE MIND

Today's message is a warning to all Christians starting with myself.

Here is a verse of scripture that send shivers down my spine is Romans 1:28 ->

And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Friends , Let him that thinks he standeth take heed lest he fall , The Romans had everything going on for them and in their affluence they began to take God for granted , this is one mistake that we must never , ever make .

In God we trust is the official motto of the United States of America but today very little point to that fact , most vile music , videos come from America . I believe they have forgotten what got them to where they are today and lots of reprobates are being bred as a result . Someone once said America and UK is the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah , i will like to refer to them as modern day Roman Empire .

Remember the Roman Empire was more or less the world power at that time but where are they today ? once again let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

Reprobates are characterized by one or more of the following :

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,wickedness,covetousness,
maliciousness;full of envy, murder,debate,deceit,malignity;whisperers.(Romans 1:29 )

It is also very important to note that when the bible says give over to a reprobate mind , God does not give up on them , rather they are now free to explore their own lusts till they get frustrated by it and return back to him that if the reprobate has not being consumed by death before then

It is my prayer today that we do not take God for granted and cause him to give us over to our own lusts which will ultimately spell doom for us .

Master please forgive .

BE STILL

We live i a fast paced world where there is little time to be still in order to hear from God , but we must understand that God still speaks today the same way he did in the old times , the difference between now and then is that we are to busy to hear from God . We now have cable TV , internet and all kinds of distractions but God is saying to us in this age of distractions in Psalm 46:10 "to be still and know that i am God"

No matter how busy we are we must take time out to hear from God , Jesus went to the mountains many times to meditate and pray . If Jesus did this then we have no option but to do the same(not necessarily going to a mountain , a quiet place void of distractions should suffice) , we need to be still to filter all the voices of men and hear from God alone because it is only his voice that matters .

I came across an acronym for busy a while back :
B-Being
U-Under
S- Satan's
Y-Yoke

Even though i do not totally agree with this acronym , i still feel there is a bit of Satan in most of the things that steal our time for meditation .

POWER IN GIVING

A giver can never lack , this is one mystery that Christians today fail to understand . This richest men in history are giving men , we start from likes of John D Rockefeller even to likes of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates of today , these men are all giving men .

In my own little capacity God has been leading me to give to people in need in the past few weeks and beleive me the results have been frightening , there have been open doors on every side , unexpected favors from people i least expect .

I want to encourage us today to give because the word of God can never lie . In Luke 6:38 , the bible says :

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

In science it is very refreshing to know that theory works in practical , it is even more refreshing when we put the word of God to practice and get results.

Today's message is a confirmation that God is not a man that he should lie , let us key into this and watch our future take glorious shape.

THE NATURAL MAN IS SELF CENTERED BUT THE SPIRITUAL MAN IS SELFLESS

The above passage compares and contrasts the selfish and selfless man , the natural man thinks only about himself , the natural man is a spiritual child and as little children , the only word he understands is ME ME ME . That’s why Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:11, when he became a man “spiritually” he put away childish things. He began to life a selfless life the moment he entered into manhood spiritually.

Joseph could have ignored the baker and butler in verse 7 but Joseph being the self appointed welfare officer in the prisons at that time inquired about the butler and bakers wellbeing. He could have ignored them as a man natural man would, but his spirit man in him wouldn’t let him.

Joseph interpreted their dreams for them and requested a little favor from the butler, all he asked was for him to mention his name to pharaoh so he can get out of prison. This wasn’t to happen because the butler was a natural man who tends to bite the fingers that fed him. Nevertheless a spiritual man cannot be kept down for too long, Joseph was to regain his freedom with God alone receiving all the glory . (this is a message for another day i.e the glory of God )

Paul was a natural man , the disciples of Jesus were natural men , many great men of God started out as natural men before God turned them to spiritual men , my prayer today is that God does a spiritual surgery in my life and in the life any reader today that will bring us into manhood spiritually like Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:11 ,may this surgery also bring out correct order of spirit soul and body as at the time of creation as against what it is today (body first , soul next and spirit last) in Jesus name, Amen.

A LITTLE SLEEP A LITTLE SLUMBER

Proverbs 28:30 - 34

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man

.

This is a warning to people who are on a high financially and spiritually . The verses above is not directed to the poor(see verse 30 , poor people didn't have fields and vineyards in those days) , it is a warning to those who relax and refuse to work because they have attained a certain level of comfort either in their careers or spiritual walk with God.

Thats why the bible warns in 1 Corinthians 10:12 , let him that thinks he stand take heed lest he fall.

I choose a career in information technology , it is a field that is fast changing where if i decide to be slothful and lazy then i will lose relevance in no time and i believe the same goes most occupations and spiritual matters.

Please let us heed this warning and turn away from all forms of laziness in our life whether it is laziness to prayer , study of the word of God and to our careers.

May God help us heed this warning in Jesus name

I WILL NEVER BE MOVED

While going about my normal duties today , i strongly believe God gave me another perspective to what Paul meant when he said "None of these things move me .." statement in Acts 20:24 .

I strongly felt him saying to me . Peter , it dosent matter what you have or what you dont have , it dosent matter where you are now or where you are not , it dosent matter how many books you have read or haven't read , all that matter is your relationship with me .

It is sweet to hear such words from a loving father , and i want to use those words to encourage you today , dont let worldly circumstances be the source of your happiness rather your relationship with Christ alone should be your only source of solace and happiness , because i have come to realize that it is not what you possess that brings true happiness which i like to call Joy , rather it is your relationship with Christ that brings about Joy . That why Paul in distress , famine , nakedness , peril and sword could still say "What shall separate me from the love of Christ .." in Romans 5:35-39.

May Gods blessings be with you all.

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED

John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.

God is saying today to the brokenhearted , weak , depressed , that he is more than able to deliver from whatsoever situation that you may be going through.

He asks the question in Jeremiah 32:27

I am the God of all flesh , is there anything too hard for me to do ?

It is amazing that we fret at very trivial things that shouldn't bother us if only we understand our bible .

Today's message is short and to the point , do not let any trivial thing bother you

Digest the highlighted scripture and use it against the devil when he comes because he will come . He constantly moves around seeking whom he may devour , give him an inch and he will take a mile.

May prayer today is that God should take us to the place where we will be able to say like Paul "none of these things move" .

STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

God opened my eyes to the mystery of the promises in his word and i am glad to share it with you .

What could be more assuring than taking God by his word as believers ? knowing that God cannot lie and he will always honor his word.

Many times we need God's help in difficult situations of our life , now what could cause God to act faster than a righteous christian taking God by his word.

Ive not taken time out to count God's promises in the bible but they are more than enough to last us a lifetime.

Dont wait till you have no other route out of your situation before using God as a gateway of last resort . We must live daily in his promises , God is a God of more than enough , what is that thing you are believing God for , no mater what it is , it is too small for God .

Here are some of the promises in the bible that has worked for me :

1)And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Psalm 50:15

2)God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

3)Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee . Hebrews 13:5

The promises in the word of God abound but we must not forget that God will only honor his promises to people who obey his word.

Proverbs 28:9 , he that turns his ear from hearing the law , his prayer shall be an abomination.

TOOLS FOR EFFECTIVE SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Everything we see or will see in the physical has already been settled in spiritual , the physical world is controlled totally by the spirit realm , that is why Paul said in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.
The weapons that we use to fight spiritual battles so that our physical world manifests colorfully are not things that can be bought at a weapons store
The bible gives us a list of these spiritual weapons in Ephesians 6:11-24.
1) Righteousness
2) Salvation
3) Word of God which the bible likens to a sword. This explains why as a growing up boy I had nightmares where I tried to speak but I couldn’t speak , that’s because I lacked the word of God or my spiritual sword . Thank God those days are gone forever, Amen.
4) Gospel of peace
5) Faith in God and his word
6) Prayer
My prayer today is that God helps us to acquire and retain these weapons as we wage war with the enemy in Jesus name.

GOD CAN USE YOU

If God can use a donkey, if God used a harlot, then he can use me and he can use you. No matter how bad you think you have come, God can use you.

Paul aided the persecution and killing of the followers of Jesus yet he was mightily used by God, out of all the disciples and followers of Jesus, I think Paul made the most impact.

We must be ready to yield to his call when he summons us. At one point in our life we will have that Damascus experience when God is calling us and it is left for us to yield ourselves to him.

On that Damascus road, Saul met Jesus and he was converted (Acts 9 ).

Therefore as Christians we must show love to those living in darkness because God can use them to bless you and your family, I am a living witness to that. Remember God is not a respecter of persons.

In Joshua 2 , God taught me that he can bring deliverance to us by whatever means he chooses. What could be more unclean than an adulterer or prostitute but God used her anyway, her house provided the best escape route and spying spot, her house was so magnificent that she could hide the men from Israel.

God is speaking to someone today; he is ready to use you if only you will surrender to him.

PRACTICALITY OF THE WORD OF GOD

The word of God is life, the word of God is power.
1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

If we are not ready to practice the word of God in our lives , then there is no point studying it , that’s why Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9: 27 (paraphrase) that he lived by the word , else all he is just an hypocrite.

We must not be hypocrites as Christians , because for us to bear that tag of Christians we must be willing to live like one.

When we are faced with difficult circumstances we must we ready to apply the word of God that we have learnt rather than complain like little kids.

Let us remember that the bible says we are gods (see John 10: 34 ) , if we are gods then it is high time we operate as one.

God is leading me to charge and exhort us Christians today , that nothing is impossible to them that believe in his word , we have the power in Christ to make the lame walk , the blind see , the deaf hear and even to raise the dead like Elijah did , but all these things can not happen unless we believe . We have to start at the mustard seed level and grow in faith.

Many times when we cry over little things like our car refusing to start , no having enough juice in the refrigerator , not having the latest clothes , having not seen the latest movie , no earning more than we currently are etc , If we do this we are not doing ourselves much favor and I am strongly believe Jesus from heaven will be saying O ye of little faith , O ye of little faith , if only you will just believe.

Ill end by saying that we should learn to take Jesus by his word , he is the same yesterday , today and tomorrow , heaven and earth may come and go but his word can never change.

Oh God , deliver us from our little faith and help us to live in line with your scripture , give us fresh revelation in your word and help us to walk daily in it.

LEARNING TO BE DISCRETE

Every verse in the bible carries a message; it is left for us a Christians to key into this message through the help of the Holy Spirit.

As I read genesis 37, about the story of Joseph, being discrete was the lesson I learned.

Even though all things worked together for good in the end for Joseph, I strongly believe that he may not have needed to go through much of the suffering before taking his throne, but I am not also ruling out the fact that one must pay a price to get a crown.

Joseph had two dreams or visions which were God given , both dreams in summary showed his family paying obeisance to him , Joseph not meaning any harm told the dreams to his fathers and brothers out of probably immaturity , of course his brothers from another mother were not too pleased about this and even his father wasn’t pleased also.

Joseph’s action caused envy amongst his brothers and they plotted to kill him, but later changed their mind, and decided to sell him to slavery.

The lesson is this, God the giver of the dream will bring also to reality, regardless of what we say or not say.

Whether Joseph told his brothers the dream or not his destiny would still have materialized in grand style. As Christians we must understand that we live in a wicked world where people are out to get us one way or the other, therefore in order to stop us from going through unnecessary hardship en route our promise land we must learn to keep our words and excitement in check.

In James 3:8, the tongue is referred to as an unruly evil which no man can tame, but I believe God is able to tame our tongue on our behalf.

GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

In this time of economic downturn, job losses, moral decadence , we couldn’t need the help of God more to overcome the devil’s ploys.

No matter the distress we may be passing through, God is able to deliver us from all these things.

In Isaiah 43:18-19 the bible encourages us to forget the old things or whatsoever we may be passing through and that he is ready to do a new thing.

Isa 43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
As Christians the bible is all we have got to lean on in these perilous times.

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

People of God let us digest these two scriptures and use it against the devil when he tries to buffet us , may God give us victory in our life long battles against the devil in Jesus name.

RIDING ON THE WINGS OF GRACE

An understanding of the grace of God as Christians will help us in many areas of our physical and spiritual works.

Grace is a gift from God that saves ( Gen 19:19 ) us when we ought to be destroyed for one reason or the other.

It is the Grace of God that protects , restores , blesses a christian .

Grace is a gift that God gives to the humble .

1st Peter 5:5

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Most of the men of God whom God has used to mold me spiritually are all characterized by humility , that is why the grace of God manifests in their lives and teachings.

It is also important to note that most of the great works we will ever do will only be achieved by the grace of God.

Jesus Christ and Paul the apostle operated under the grace of God.

In John 5:30 Jesus said ,

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

And in 1 Corinthians 15:10 Paul identified the grace of God as the source of his strength .

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Our ticket to ride on the wings of grace is humility , the message of this article is simple we access the grace of God by submitting to God as lord and authority over our lives, this can be achieved by studying and acting the word of God and praying continuously for grace when embarking on any task no matter how small the task may be.

LESSON ON FAITH

Hebrews 11:1 -> Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen .

Faith is substantial , it is what we hold on to before the things we cannot see manifest themselves in the physical, it is what the righteous and the just live by .

Faith is the difference between the spiritual man and the carnal man. It is our faith as Christians that differentiates us from other religions .

By faith we can move mountains , we can break new grounds in our spiritual walk and in our careers .

Faith is in levels , in Matthew 17:20

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed(Jesus used mustard seed because of its small size(1mm in diameter , it takes 3-10 days to germinate) ), ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Jesus compared the faith a person could have to a mustard seed , this tells me that there are other levels of faith to be explored , if we have faith as a mustard seed nothing can be impossible for us .

It also tells me that faith is a seed that we sow that births fruits that we cannot immediately see . For mustard the seed is the only evidence that we are expecting a mustard fruit , for a mango the seed is the only evidence that we are expecting a mango fruit . The same also goes for spiritual things , our faith is our only evidence we have for the glorious things to come .

Paul had this understanding that is why he could say in Philippians 4:13 , "i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me "

Let us have faith in God for whatever trial we may be going through and we will be amazed at the speed of delivery of the things that we hope for.

COVETOUSNESS

This is a topic that is hardly preached in churches today , it has been given fancy names as ambition and some other fancy terms but in most cases at the root of it all is covetousness.

Covetousness means “Excessively and culpably desirous of the possessions of another” .

In Luke 12:15 Jesus Christ warns us of covetousness, he says our life does not consist of the things we possess. I pray that the lord opens our eyes to see the big picture.

I believe covetousness causes cancer, a kind of cancer of the soul, The wise Solomon said he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days(Proverbs 28:16).

Covetousness is sinful greed, covetousness is able to consume a person to harm another person, see Isaiah 57:17.

Covetousness is a form of idolatry, when an individual has excessive desires for the possessions of another person then the individual is performing idolatry without knowing. The bible says we must cast down every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of God(2 cor 10:5) and that is what covetousness does; it tries to exalt itself above God in the life of a Christian.

This is a topic that is preached openly in the church today , I am not surprised because in 2 peter 2:1-3 such men have been exposed , the bible says they will make merchandise of you motivated by the spirit of covetousness .

This topic is so extensive that a book can be written on it , but i pray that God opens our eyes to various forms of covetousness and may God help us turn away from them.

THE EFFECT SIN HAS ON GODS POWER IN OUR LIVES

Someone once said:

"Sin... will take you farther than you want to go!

"Sin... will keep you longer than you want to stay!"

"Sin... will cost you more than you want to pay!"

Sin is sin , be it murder , lust , lying , coveteousness ,hatred , malice . The more we sin the farther away from God we become .

It is impossible to live in sin and still demonstrate the power of God , sure one can live in sin and demonstrate the devils power , but the bible in revelation 20 says their feet will slide in due time and they will certainly receive punishment for their evil.

If your pastors sermon turns from powerful to pointless , beware that preacher might be playing with a hidden sin , i have heard news of many preachers who were once hot for christ , who preached very convicting sermons only to yield to sin and lose the power of God upon their lives.That will not be our story in Jesus name.

One of my favourite passages in the Bible has to do with the story of the seven sons of sceva in Acts 19 who tried to cast out evil spirits in the name of Jesus , when they were also a repository of evil spirits . The same goes for believers who are living in sin who try cast out demons in the name of Christ , they are more or less wasting their time because they need to cast out the evil spirit of sin in themselves before casting out evil spirits in others.

An attempt by a believer living in sin to cast out anevil spirit will lead to disgrace , the evil spirit will ask who are you ? Now tell me what insult could be greater to an individual who professes christ.

Brethern , if we must get and retain the power of God in our lives , we must stay far way from every apperance of sin.

Acts 19:13-16

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

GAIN IS NOT GODLINESS

In the body of Christ today , there is a great misconception about prosperity , as an individual i have nothing against prosperity because it is the will of God for us to prosper .

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosperity. (3rd John 1:2).

My concern is when preachers use material prosperity as a yard stick for spirituality and godliness. These two things are not necessarily mutually inclusive.

Elijah , John the Baptist and others in the bible where not materially rich but they were rich in God.

Friends i wish to admonish us to turn away from any preacher who says you are ungodly because you are poor , that man is an antichrist.

In 1st timothy 6:1-6 , the bible warns us of such ministers , we are to turn away from those proud ministers . The gospel of Christ is godliness and every other thing is an add on.Remember the bible says “seek ye fisrt the kingdom and very other thing shall be added .....” .

1st Tim 6:3-5

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

In Luke 6:24 , the bible says woe unto you that are rich for you have received your consolation .

My prayer today is that God gives us discerning spirits , to identify the antichrist preachers from the chosen ones.

Friends because you have not yet conceived a child doesn’t make you ungodly , because you did not pass the interview does not make you less a Christian , because you are not yet married at age thirty doesn’t make you less a Christian , spirituality and Christianity is much more than what we can see , feel and whatever creature comforts we may possess.

DESPISING THE POOR

James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

We live in a world of favoritism to the rich and despising of the poor , reading verse 2 down to 13 , Paul gives us a lesson on favoritism .

As Christians we cannot afford to accord respect to an individual based on outward appearance without even considering the heart of the person , in verse 9 of James 2 , people who show respect to persons based on their physical appearance alone are sinners. Even as God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise , God also chooses the poor in the eyes of this world but rich in faith to be the heirs of the kingdom of heaven.

There is nothing wrong in being rich neither is there anything wrong with being poor , but the thought pattern of the world is affecting the way Christians think and this should not be so , as Christians we should not be drawn towards material things but rather we should be focused on the eternal , the hymn writer said "Turn your heart upon Jesus, look into his wonderful face and the things of earth will go strangely dim".

Albert Einstein said , before God we are equally wise and equally foolish , i will say that before God we are equally rich and equally poor.

O God teach us to see the inner beauty in people before passing any judgment , help us be like you not to judge by outward appearance but rather by the content of the heart.

LEY YOUR YES BE YES

Mat 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

The message for today is honesty , in our dealings with people we must learn to discipline our tongue because it is the channel through which blessings and curses originate.

Many people have lost their destiny by saying the wrong things at the right time , a man once said “It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”

TRIALS AND THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

The Christian life is not an easy one to live , the moment we decide to pursue Christ with all our might , you can be rest assured that all hell will be let loose against YOU.

There is no follower of God that had it rosy all the days of his life, today’s message is going to be identifying such people and the trials they faced and a conclusion on how we can overcome those challenges.

PAUL: Paul started as a persecutor of Christians, but he ended up being a hero for Christians, his letters consist over one third of the new testament, he became unshakable for Christ .

In Romans 8:35-39, he says “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ …” he was a dogged Christian , nothing in this world could charm or scare him , he says neither death nor life , things present or things to come etc. The day we chose to be a Christian we have lost all right to self and selfless living makes us unshakable for the devil

ELIJAH: Elijah’s own trial came in form of wicked queen Jezebel , the wife of Ahab . In 1st kings 19:2 , Jezebel vowed to kill Elijah and of course she failed , who is she to stand against Gods chosen one?

JOB: The Bible tells us in Job 1 , about a man who was perfect , upright and feared the lord , God blessed him in children , wealth and other things , but a trial came where his faith was tested , he seemed to have lost everything in the eyes of humans but not in the eyes of God , because Gods ways are not our ways neither are his thoughts our thoughts . After the trials he came out with a testimony he was restored in many fold than his original state.

Friends if we can only hold on through the trials, there is a testimony waiting for us at the end of the tunnel, no matter what you are going through, try and remember your heritage and who your father is in 1st john 4:4 which reads:

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

PLEASE TAKE ONE WIFE !

Lately I have been studying the book of Genesis and one thing i noticed with the people at that time is sexual promiscuity , we see masters of households sleep with house maids with the consent of wives , we see men marry more than one wife which was somewhat acceptable at that time .

I also noticed that the more wives you have the harder it is to control your family.

Today’s message is simple , we should at all cost marry one wife and no concubines , because when you have many wives and children you have there is greater potential of having trouble among the bunch.

In Genesis 34, we see Jacob lose control over his household, in verse 1-2, his daughter Dinah went into the city to make friends with some people in her age group in a city that was still new to them(which was very irresponsible on her path ) only to return defiled.

In verse 25 – 31 of the same verse we see how Simeon and Levi his second and third sons respectively brought shame unto Jacob , as they went into the city to destroy the men of the land and the property therein .

In conclusion, I like to admonish every reader not to marry more than one wife or engage in extra-marital affairs or have children out of wedlock because it will only bring more problems on you , great potential of having unruly children and a fragmented soul , because the bible says a man and his wife unite in one flesh , so cleaving unto other men and women causes fragmented parts of the same person which can only result in poor judgment and loss of control.

Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE

Paul asks a rhetorical question , "What is your life" , he answers by describing life as a vapor that appears for a little time and then it vanishes away.

He couldn’t be more true , regardless of the way we look at it , the meaning of life boils down to the definition in James 4:14.

If this is true then i believe we as Christians need to start living with eternities values in view.whether you have one dollar or one million dollars in the bank we must live with eternities values in view .

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

If God has blessed us with money , let us give to the poor , to the building of Gods church and by so doing we are laying up treasures for ourselves in heaven. As Christians we must not live like the world who live for the present and have not picture of the future.

Later in Mathew 6 , Jesus said wherever your treasure is that’s where your heart will be , so lets think about it , if our heart is always at the bank , then that’s where our treasure is , but if we cannot go for an hour without meditating on the awesomeness of God and how beautiful heaven will be then we know for a certainty that our treasure is in heaven.

John Wesley once said when I have money I give it away quickly before it finds a way to my heart , I plead with us today lets not allow money , power , desire for respect and fame be our primary motivation , rather let the hunger for the things of God , how we can impact lives by our financial blessings and the divine revelations we have received should be our main focus

I strongly believe that the best way to live , is to live a life overwhelmed with eternities values , , let’s stop playing games and take our lives seriously because life is short and we must make the most of it because we will give account of our stewardship before our maker in heaven .

Peter describes Christians as pilgrims, this tells me that we have a short time in this world , the final destination is heaven.

1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

POWER OF FOCUS

Focus is an energy from within that helps us remain on one thing until we get the needed results , great men of God like Paul , Jesus our Lord were all men of focus.

If we profess to be Christians let us not waver in our faith (Heb 10:23 ).

Gen 49:3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

Gen 49:4 Unstable as water , thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

Focus is what brings about excellence , because Reuben lacked focus he was destined to fail , this same rule of focus applies to both spiritual and worldly things , if we focus on one goal , for example to work in the company of your dreams in no time your inner and outer physical forces begin to bow to the power of focus and you will find yourself in that company .

For us to receive anything from the lord we have to focus on the lord and him alone , in James 1:6-8 , we see that a man that looks to man and God at the same time is a candidate for failure and shall not receive anything from the lord.

Focus is what makes you keep at something even if you are not getting immediate results. God help me focus ! , help the body of Christ focus , oh give us the kind of focus Christ had , please give us this gift . Amen

Ill end with my favorite verses on focus:

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Paul was a man of "ONE THING" , he said "this one thing i do" ....

Philipians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

DISCIPLINE

Discipline connotes training. As Christians we must discipline our bodies in order to achieve spiritual maturity.

If we profess to be Christians we must live like one . When i get to heaven one of the first bible characters i will meet will be Paul , he lived a life marked by discipline . Refer to 1 Corinthians 9:27 for an instance were he demonstrated discipline.

1 Corinthians 9:27 ,But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

As Christians we are not to be slaves to our body , rather our body should be slaves to us , we should be in control of what our body should do and shouldn't do.

Just as our body must be disciplined , our spirits must also be disciplined , because the spirit lusts after the flesh and vice versa.

Galatians 5:17->For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

This is not an easy task , it is one takes the grace of God to achieve as Paul acknowledged in 1 Corinthians 15:10 .

May God give us the grace to discipline our flesh so we can say like Paul in Acts 20:24 "None of these things move me " .

CARNALITY

Romans 8:7 -> Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Carnality is number one cause of powerlessness of Christians in the world today , carnality manifests in form of lust , covetousness , pride ,ambition etc. Many times i pray to God to deliver me from any form of carnality that is at work in my life.In some bible version versions enmity is referred to as "been hostile to God" .

Anytime we overlook Gods law for flesh or human nature we have exhibited carnality.
When we look at Men of God instead of God himself we have exhibited carnality

1 Corinthians 3:7 -> So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

I have made it a personal decision never to look unto any man for anything but rather the God at work in their lives or the God that gives the increase , if not we miss the big picture.
In 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 , Carnality is pointed out as a major characteristics of spiritual children . Carnality in form of envy , strife and distaste for spiritual meat ( or the word of God that convicts of sin) characterizes spiritual children.

Lets make that decision with the help of the almighty God to drop all forms of carnality at work in our lives.

GODS WAYS

ISA 55:8-9 : For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This verse tells me that we cannot comprehend the ways of God by our own wisdom which is limited in scope except the lord quickens our understanding by his grace.

There are many things God does that we apply earthly conventional thinking , sometimes we can’t seem to comprehend the logic behind some of his decisions, the reason is simple, our minds have not been quickened.

It is very easy to be a Christian when we take the word of God black and white, let’s leave the thinking for the philosophers .

Rom 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

We can’t question his ways believe me it a lost cause, the bible must be absolute in our lives for us not to be fooled by the enemy.

May God give us the grace to trust his word without any reservation?

LAW OF THE SPIRIT vs THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH

Without the law of sin , there is no consciousness of sin . It is the law that causes us all kinds of lust to sin. Imagine there is no law against fornication , then there is no sin called fornication , but because of that law , the lust to commit fornication emanates.
Also the law of sin and death tends not to rely on God to free us from sin but rather we make an attempt not to commit sin by our own power.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once. But when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.
Paul urges us to adhere to the law of the spirit and i admonish us to also follow after the law of the spirit , because the law of the spirit relinquishes control of power over sin from ourselves to the Spirit of God.
The law of sin and death works through the flesh but if we operate under the law of the spirit we live spirit controlled lives that is free of condemnation.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Romans 7 is a self controlled life and Romans 8 is a spirit controlled life . The benefits of living in the spirit are innumerable , read Romans 8:12-39 .
They include freedom from fear , us becoming sons of God of whom the whole earth waits for our manifestation , we enjoy divine backing , we have the Holy Spirit intercede for us according to the will of God.
As i read this verses of scripture i asked God , how do i enter into the law of the spirit ?, I am sure you were also asking the same , the answer is in Romans 8:1 : by accepting JESUS as lord and savior.

THY WILL BE DONE

Mat 6:10 -> Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

The above verse is taken from the part of the bible where Jesus gives a lecture on how to pray . Jesus always prayed in the will of God , and that's how every believer should pray in order for things to be well with us. Many times we pray for selfish things that only bring more sorrow .

In the garden of Gethsemane , Jesus could have prayed away the pain and problems but he didn't , instead he said let the will of God be done so that you and me will not have to shed the blood of bulls for our sins , rather he became a living sacrifice for us.

Mat 6:42 -> He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."(NIV)

Praying in the will of God not only brings the best to us but also to those around us .

Ill conclude by saying that praying in the will of God is one of the highest levels of prayer possible , may God give us the grace to pray in his will in Jesus name.

SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITY

Ephesians 6:12 -> For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Spiritual sensitivity refers to the ability to pick spiritual signals , the above verse tells me that everything that manifests in the physical has been concluded in the spiritual.

Therefore as Christians we must have our spiritual antenna tuned to receive signals from God.

I have been a beneficiary of spiritual insight from God at several stages in my life , when God shows me something in the spiritual it manifests in the physical 100% of the time, and believe me most of this insight that have been graciously given to me have come at times when i am most close to him.

It pays to be spiritually sensitive especially in this time when all the churches preach self centered materialism , we need to get beyond giving God a shopping list like little kids and get to the place where God shows us deep things.

It is also important to know that spiritual sensitivity also helps you strike before the enemy strikes.

In Conclusion drawing near to God is the only way we can tune our spiritual antenna.

James 4:8 -> Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

LOOKING UNTO JESUS

Hebrews 12:2 , Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

From this verse , there are lots of things to learn , we learn lessons in patience , discipline , focus , rewards and true spiritual authority .

Focusing more on spiritual authority , i am 100% convinced that the only spiritual authority over my life is Jesus , many Christians are to busy chasing shadows by looking at their pastors as their only source of "spiritual motivation" , that's why we find a lot of Christians fall by the wayside when their pastor falls.This verse is telling me that if we can only look to Jesus we will keep going strong regardless of what is going on around us.

I am challenging every christian to look unto Jesus for at least 45 minutes a day in devotions for the rest of your life and watch the wonders God will work in our lives.This is not a big ask considering the amount of time we spend doing other fleshly things.

I also see the humiliation of Christ and the ultimate reward he enjoyed. In Mathew 20:20-23 , the sons of Zebedee wanted a similar reward and Jesus asked them if they were ready to partake of his suffering .

For worthy physical crowns we must pay a price , the same goes for spiritual crowns.

WAGES OF SIN

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die
The above verses of scripture are self explanatory, I believe something in us dies with every sin we commit. This explains why many Christians are mesmerized by the enemy in their everyday life because of spiritual death or spiritual old age . The devil presents all kinds of distractions or “good will” to prevent us from establishing a connection with the almighty God because he knows that power over sin lies with the almighty God.
In 1st kings 21 , we see the story of Ahab and how he was lured into sin by his wife Jezebel , I believe Ahab had a good heart and wanted to do the right thing , but a good heart is not enough as followers of Christ , we also have to be rooted in God , this is necessary to prevent the devil from luring us into sin . It was this good heart that Jezebel took advantage of to lure Ahab into sin.
In 1Ki 21:2 , Ahab offered to purchase Naboth's vineyard for A sum of money , but Naboth rejected the offer. Ahab felt dejected and refused to eat , he later confided in Jezebel his evil wife who was also an epitome of pride and sin.

In 1st kings 21:25, Jezebel succeeded in killing Naboth , and Ahab took over ownership of the vineyard without considering the cause of Naboths death .

Here was a man driven by lust and covetousness instead of love and righteousness , he had committed a grievous sin in the sight of God and had to pay dearly for it.

Let’s not be deceived a sinner can’t escape his wages, In 1st kings 21: 19, God meted out judgment to Ahab, and in verse 23 of the same chapter a similar judgment of death was pronounced on Jezebel.

Because Ahab had a humble heart , he mourned and went on a fast after which he received mercy from God, but because the wages of sin is death , his punishment had to be transferred to his son.

The lessons we must learn as Christians is to be careful when entering relationships with people, because if we are not rooted in Christ we can easily be lured into sin by those acquaintances, we must also pray that God help us live by his word .

ELIJAH: A man of like passions(1st Kings 17)

The story of Prophet Elijah is one that should challenge every believer , i dont know of any one in the world today or even in my generation who operates or had operated in the same level that Elijah operated from.

I came across a challenging story this week , imagine a man like you and me closed heaven that it would not rain and later opened up heaven that it will rain just by a spoken word ?

I kings 1:17 : And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants , of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but, according to my word.

LESSON 1

Notice that the Bible says according to His(Elijah's) word , personally that is the part that really challenges me , it tells me that there is a place in God where we can reach that we speak things into reality , and God in his infinite mercy honors our word.

LESSON 2

The second lesson from this chapter is God will always provide for his own whether via clean or unclean vessels .When Elijah was sent by God to brook cherith , he was fed by ravens whom by nature are unclean animals and when the brook dried up , he moved to zarepath where he was fed by a widow who was indulging in an unnamed sin(see 1kings 17:18)

I think we should desire to reach and surpass that level because Christ has already said greater works than these shall ye do ( John 14:12) , borrowing the words of my mentor "it left to us to take the word of God as absolute or obsolete " , " i pray that we all are not only challenged by Gods word but we must also be changed by his word "

TRUSTING GOD

Trusting God means "total dependence " in God. At different stages in our life , God tests our trust in him in order to take us to the next level .

Abraham's story is an amazing case of trusting God, he waited so long for a child from his beloved wife Sarah and after getting Isaac God tells him to give him as a sacrifice in Genesis 22.

" And he said Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac whom thou lovest , and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of " -- Genesis 22:2

Notice the Bible says whom thou lovest , these days God may not ask us to sacrifice our child as he did Abraham , but it may be something else that we place so much emphasis on e.g money , position , fame , certain relationships etc . Most times we are reluctant to give up these things because we are ignorant of the big picture.

To make this short , Abraham did as God requested and as he was about to sacrifice Isaac , God stopped him and God provided a ram for sacrifice , not only did God provide a sacrifice he blessed him beyond what he could imagine.

Gen 22:15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time
Gen 22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because, thou hast done this thing,and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
Gen 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies

It pays to trust God , when i say trust i mean total reliance in him for everything.
When you trust God 100% there is no % left for trusting man , he has a superview of all things but our view is limited.
Keep trusting God and watch him work wonders in your life.
